A young couple are stuck in a strange chamber, divided by an invisible wall. The young man desperately hits the wall to reach the girl. Fighting back tears, the girl suddenly grows wings on her back and begins to fly away against her own will, reaching for him as she ascended...

A young man comes home from an excavation and pulls off his hood to greet the picture of his father, just when his childhood friend barges through his door, excited to see he's home. This is how everyday life has become for Princess Sakura and Syaoran, two childhood friends in the Kingdom of Clow. Syaoran is carrying on his deceased father's precious dream to unravel the ruins and history of Clow. This leaves Her Highness, Princess Sakura, lonely and impatient for the return of her beloved Syaoran. Sakura's desperate to tell Syaoran her true feelings for him. The night she decides to herself to tell him how she really feels, a chiming bell calls to her, and she lands inside the ruins Syaoran has just recently discovered. Sakura, in the ecstasy of the power calling to her, touches a strange symbol resembling wings - then, her own wings emerge and take flight into the skies. In a matter of time, Sakura's heart - the "tsubasa," the wings - have been scattered throughout different worlds. Syaoran is then sent to the Dimension Witch, to receive instructions on how to save the Princess.

A slender man emerges from a sealed pool of water, leaving a casket containing someone inside. His name is Fay, and he is a wizard from Celes. He says that putting him to sleep was "the only way," but to what is unknown. He leaves one of his creations, Chi, to guard the pool until he - Ashura - awakens, and to notify Fay by any means when that happens. Fay then puts on his coat and produces a spell to send him to "the witch."

Another man dressed in black begins to cackle atop the roof of a temple-like building, and a traditionally-dressed girl looks on. She turns out to be Tomoyo, Princess of Japan. "I guess we can't avoid this," she expresses. Next, the man dressed in black - Kurogane, the strongest warrior in Japan - begins to yell at Tomoyo. She is sending him to a person who will know how to "take care" of him, against Kurogane's wishes. As Kurogane was sucked into the magical vortex, he exclaimed: "YOU BITCH, I WON'T FORGET THIS!"

How do these three stories connect? They all arrive in a foreign land, facing a woman, who identifies herself as the Witch that all three of them were told about. Sparing no time, Syaoran says: "I beg of you, please help Sakura!"
