Manga Correspondance: Anime only First Aired: July 23, 2005 In a strange, Mayan-esque template, a young woman is hit with a red beam of light by an ancient mask and faints. A young man yells out "Charme!" and sees on her forehead a strange red, glowing insignia. The mask vanishes. Syaoran and the group arrive in a new country right in the middle of a tournament to decide its strongest hero. The prize is inside a box, which Mokona senses as a power like Sakura's feather! The group decides to enter the tournament, but the special technique "Zola's Thunder" that the men of the country are born with seems to be quite competitive. Syaoran asks Sakura to go somewhere safe with Mokona, and the two happen upon a quaint little house in the forest. There Sakura encounters a man with the same look in his eyes as Syaoran, and the girl "Charme" - but now she wears a bandana to conceal her forehead. The two came to the area so the man - Keefer - could enter the tournament, but encountered wolves along the way, resulting in Keefer being injured. Regardless of Charme's concern, Keefer is still resolute to enter. Kurogane, Fay and Syaoran make it through their first rounds without so much as a scratch. But when Kurogane and Fay match up, Fay tricks Kurogane into stepping out of the ring with him and gets them both disqualified. Apparently he "forgot" about that rule, but it's plain to see he wanted Syaoran to win the tournament. Kurogane is fuming, but Fay simply replies, "Whether you like it or not, we're stuck together." Sakura and Charme have just finished putting the laundry out to dry. But Charme suddenly grabs hold of her chest and faints! Keefer comes running out to help her. Once Charme is resting, Keefer gets up to go to the tournament. But Charme stops him. She knows about what happened last year at the temple, when the ancient spirit put a curse on her that is now slowly killing her. The spirit told Keefer that he would need to become strong and obtain the sacred treasure - a device used for prayer by ancient priests - in order to save Charme. This is why Keefer wanted so badly to enter the tournament. Keefer runs off, and Sakura and Charme follow him. Syaoran has won the tournament, but the prize wasn't Sakura's feather. Keefer hastily forces Syaoran to challenge him and the two fight. But a definitive "tie" between the two prompts Syaoran to merely give Keefer the ancient treasure. Charme remarks on what a strong heart Syaoran has.Keefer asks Charme why she first went into the ruins. She says she made a wish to marry someone... and the two walk off holding hands. |
