After Arashi and Sorata finish their puppet show explaining how glorious the Hansin Republic is, a mysterious force smacks an unattentive Kurogane upside the head. Seems Sorata just used his kudan! But what are kudan? Sorata and Arashi explain that kudan are sentinel-type entities which reside within the hearts of each person in Hansin. They can be used in battle, something which intrigues Kurogane, or they can do mundane things such as carry groceries.

Once the group is familiarized with kudan and other aspects of Hansin, Mokona senses the presence of one of Sakura's feathers. It is in Hansin, but far from their current location. Knowing this, the group decides to rest for the night. Syaoran protests the room arrangement, wanting to be near Sakura at all times. Sorata and Arashi assure him she will be alright without his watch and lead him to his room.

In his room, Syaoran encounters a fiery beast who inquires about his motives. Sensing Syaoran's strong heart, the beast asks if he wants to have him and his power. Syaoran says he wants to protect someone special and with that, he awakes. Was is just a dream?
